Transportation to Literacy

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia visited our school to promote the passing of his assembly bill 1453, Transportation to Literacy. Working alongside the Kleins, the founders of the Read with Me Volunteer Program, the Assemblymember passed legislation to reinstate school district transportation for adults such as those that are a part of the reading volunteer program. Board members Ms. Machuca and Mr. Galarza, along with Dr. Gomez, were present in support of the event. The event consisted of the first wave of volunteers being a part of the audience that partook in the event. It was a great event that highlighted how obstacles can be overcome when outside of the box thinking is used to tackle challenges.
